NORMAL PEOPLE is a group that has been around since late 2012. I wanted to play songs that I really liked, but were not accepted as ‘jazz songs’. Basically I wanted to be in a cover band without being in a cover band. I started to write arrangements for the songs that I really enjoyed, regardless of genre, and came up with a group of 13 that I felt really good about. I also knew that I wanted a lot of guitars in this band, and someone who could serve as a kind of ‘lead singer’ without singing. Thus created the lineup of alto sax, 3 guitars, bass and drums.
